Amanda is an Iraqi-Jewish queer writer and musician living between Edinburgh and New York City.

Their writing has been published or is forthcoming in The Harvard Review Online, The Michigan Quarterly Review, Jezebel, Lithub, them., Tribune, Popula, Harper’s Bazaar, The Guardian, Teen Vogue and The Forward. 

Echoes in the Chelsea Hotel, and “My Father’s Ghost” were both Longreads Editor’s Picks. My Father’s Journey” was nominated for a 2020 Deadline Club Award. “Chengdu” received a notable mention in The Best American Essays 2021 anthology.

They are an alumnus of SUNY Purchase, Yale University, and Trinity College Dublin. From 2012-2016, Amanda worked in the fine art industry for institutions such as the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Peggy Guggenheim Museum, Marlborough Gallery, and Bonham’s Auction House.

They are currently completing an MFA in Nonfiction Writing at Columbia University.
